SAF Initiative from Istanbul Jet
Istanbul Jet Aviation and Fuel Services has taken a pioneering role in the trade of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with a visionary approach to reducing the aviation sector’s carbon footprint, certified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC EU).
As of January 7, 2025, Istanbul Jet obtained the ISCC EU certification to support its sustainability projects. With this milestone, the company has officially added SAF trading— a more sustainable version of Jet A-1 and a cleaner alternative to fossil-based jet fuels — to its operations. The certification affirms Istanbul Jet’s compliance with sustainable production and supply chain practices for biomass, biofuels, and other renewable raw materials.
Istanbul Jet imported 300 metric tons of SAF produced by Neste Oil, ensuring its delivery to Turkey via Gemlik Port.
Commenting on the significance of the ISCC EU certification and the SAF importation, Hüseyin Latifoğlu, General Manager of Istanbul Jet Aviation and Fuel Services, stated:
“We are proud to have concluded the certification process that will provide a strong competitive edge for our company and positively influence our customers’ purchasing decisions. With a strong commitment to environmental management and social responsibility, we are entering a new phase in which we will further strengthen our operations and supply network.
As a signatory to the Paris Climate Agreement, Turkey has committed to reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. Increasing the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel is one of the key strategies to achieving this goal. At Istanbul Jet, we are intensifying our efforts to ensure uninterrupted SAF supply through innovative and advanced solutions.”
As a member of IATA, Istanbul Jet continues to stand out with its local and global operations. With fueling and storage facilities at Dalaman Airport and Alanya–Gazipaşa Airport in Turkey, the company serves airlines at nearly 500 airports across more than 100 countries, upholding a 24/7 high-quality service standard based on operational excellence. Istanbul Jet is now extending its proven expertise, industry know-how, and strong financial capacity to the field of sustainable aviation fuels.
